Steps to Transport SAP BI Queries from Development to Quality Server

This guide outlines the fundamental steps for transporting SAP BI queries from the development system to the quality server. Since these steps involve actions in both the source and target systems, appropriate authorizations are required to release and import objects.

Step 1: Transport Queries from the Source System

  1. Open Transaction RSOR (Transport Connection).
  2. Use the Conversion button to insert the initial and target source system names.
  3. Choose the Grouping Type for transporting objects.
  4. Select the BI queries to transport and click Execute.
  5. Click the Transport Objects button (truck icon).

Step 2: Release the Transport Request

  1. Open Transaction SE10 (Transport Organizer).
  2. Click Display to view tasks and requests.
  3. Select the relevant request and task.
  4. Click the Release button (single truck icon) or press F9.
  5. Once both the task and request are released, proceed to the target system.

Step 3: Import Queries into the Target System

  1. Open Transaction STMS (Transport Management System).
  2. Navigate to Import Overview (F5) > Display Import Queue.
  3. Select the transport request and click Import (truck with a small loading icon).
  4. Enter the target client number and press Enter.
  5. The queries will now be imported into the quality system.

Handling Standard BEx Transport Requests

If the transport request was marked as a Standard BEx Transport Request, a new standard request must be created. Without a valid BEx transport request, users will be unable to process queries or workbooks, and an error message will appear:

"The query could not be saved due to a problem in transport. BEx transport request is not available or not suitable."

To create a new standard BEx transport request:

  1. Click BEx and select Assign / Delete.
  2. Add the newly created request and Save the selection.

All future modifications and newly created objects will now be recorded in the assigned BEx transport request. For more details, refer to SAP Note 194051.
